This Housing Needs Survey is part of creating the Town of Innisfil’s new Housing Strategy. We know that there is a need for a new Housing Strategy, primarily due to:
A strong need for affordable rental housing; and
Increasing house prices and interest rates that often make home ownership out of reach.
The purpose of the Housing Strategy will be to identify actions that can be undertaken at the local municipal level to help facilitate the creation of more affordable housing across Innisfil. As an initial step to preparing the Town’s Housing Strategy, the Housing Needs Survey will enhance our understanding of Innisfil’s current housing conditions and needs. Additional consultations and focus groups will also be held with the public and stakeholders.
Community engagement
To ensure the housing strategy appropriately addresses the needs of all Innisfil residents, we want to hear from you. In addition to the Housing Needs Survey, we will continue to engage with the public and stakeholders throughout the process of creating the Housing Strategy. There will be several points where you can actively participate in its review and provide feedback.
What data is being collected?
The Housing Needs Survey is designed to collect information from two major groups: Homeowners and Renters. Each group may have different experiences with housing and because of that, it is important to capture this detail in the collection of data. All data collected is anonymous and treated as confidential. The Housing Needs Survey has 7 sections and should take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete.
Next steps
Data from this survey will inform the needs, preferences, and characteristics of the people of Innisfil that must be considered, now and in the future, when preparing the Housing Strategy.
