  • Share I've noticed that the completion date has been changed once again, now to the end of August. I'm wondering what the delay is? As a resident on the street, it's becoming incredibly frustrating to see multiple days - even weeks, over the last few months, with no physical body's present to move the progress along. This area is densely populated with children and families that are now going an entire summer season with no access to park space that was supposed to be completed in 2023. on Facebook Share I've noticed that the completion date has been changed once again, now to the end of August. Good day,

    Thank you for your inquiry!

We apologize for the confusion as the date was changed in error, it should have said early August vs. end of August. We have a slight delay as we wanted to give the sod a little time to take. However, we anticipate opening the playground next week, the week of August 5th.

  • Share I see that the new park has been filled with mulch. Not accessible at all! Could we not have gone with a more accessible ground choice. Good day,

    Thank you for your inquiry!

In Ontario, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) mandates that playground surfaces must be safe, resilient, and accessible to all users, including individuals with disabilities. The Huron Court playground surface is Engineered Wood Fiber (EWF) which is an approved material under the AODA as it:

    • Meets ASTM F1951 for accessibility
    • Provides a natural look
    • Requires maintenance to remain compact and level

Unfortunately some of the other rubber options that are also approved under the Act can be 6x the cost for the initial placement and also for replacement costs, otherwise we would install at every playground.

  • Share As a resident that lives along Ferguson, I don't think putting washrooms close to someone's home is a good idea. In the summer time, with the heat and sun, it will stink! One centralized space with New playground is a great idea but please keep it away from the houses so that the noise level is kept down and the green space along the houses is kept alive. The playground needs to be moved further into the park and away from the houses as children like to frequently come along the fence line and yell, scream, climb trees, bushes and poke the dogs with sticks through the fences. I've had to go into City Hall to express my concerns and complaints regarding this issue. on Facebook Share As a resident that lives along Ferguson, I don't think putting washrooms close to someone's home is a good idea. Thanks for reaching out with your concerns. We originally had a concrete pad included for portable washrooms that we have pulled from the design. The portable washroom will go to a similar location as selected by our Operations Department just on the other side of the pine trees (red box below). The trees provide a buffer between the portable washroom and the homes.

The new play structures are placed to maximize the park's design and layout, taking in future space considerations. We're sorry to hear about children approaching the fence line, potentially damaging the plants and trees, and causing distress to your dog.

A suggested solution would be to consider adding additional buffers within your property to add space between the park edge and your fence to help prevent unwanted interactions. If this continues to happen, please call our Customer Service team at 705-436-3710

  • Share Would their not be enough room to put in a splash pad, this park has lots of children in the area and spend most of their summer days there, there is no shade so this would be nice to cool them down in such a big open space. on Facebook Share Would their not be enough room to put in a splash pad, this park has lots of children in the area and spend most of their summer days there, there is no shade so this would be nice to cool them down in such a big open space. on Twitter Share Would their not be enough room to put in a splash pad, this park has lots of children in the area and spend most of their summer days there, there is no shade so this would be nice to cool them down in such a big open space. on Linkedin Email Would their not be enough room to put in a splash pad, this park has lots of children in the area and spend most of their summer days there, there is no shade so this would be nice to cool them down in such a big open space. link

Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, there isn't sufficient budget at this time to include a splash pad at Huron Court Park. There will be one constructed next year in the new Margaretta Park in the Sleeping Lion development and there is one at Town Square. Learn more: Margaretta Park - Town of Innisfil

Thank you for your comments! While at this time a pollinator garden isn't included in the project we are achieving your other suggestions within the design. We will be adding some trees, benches, a picnic shade structure, bike racks can be also used to secure scooters, and we are adding new trail connections to the school.

We work with the Innisfil Accessibility Advisory Committee for all our parks and ensure they meet requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and are inclusive.

What is an inclusive playground? A universally designed, sensory-rich environment that enables all children to develop physically, socially and emotionally. An engaging place that provides the just-right level of challenge and offers opportunities to succeed. A well-designed place that addresses all levels of ability. At an inclusive playground, children of all abilities can interact with each other and do what all kids want to do: play.

Included in the upcoming Huron Court Park playground is a molded bucket swing and molded bucket chair on the zip line, children in wheelchairs can transfer from their chair to the swing and have full support- see link Molded Bucket Seat Play Swing - Landscape Structures (playlsi.com)
